Congratulations on your proposal and I look forward to being your celebrant for your chosen day. Most weddings occur on a Saturday afternoon and I urge you, if this is your choice to contact a celebrant at your earliest convenience to book your time and date. It can be disappointing to arrange all the other details of your marriage, only to find there are no celebrants available. Please email me at your earliest convenience to ensure I am available for your chosen day.
Once the booking has been established, I will send out further information in preparation for your ceremony.
It is not necessary to use a traditional wedding ceremony structure, these days alternative ceremonies like handfasting are becoming popular. It is your wedding and as long as a few legal parts are included, we can structure your ceremony to suit your preferences. You may already have children and would like them to be part of the ceremony or a loved family member may have been recently lost and you wish to remember them.
The Whitsunday’s is a popular spot for weddings. With the numerous resorts, islands and tropical gardens to choose from, many interstate couples travel to our warm climate for their special ceremony and I hope you also choose this romantic destination.
Where ever you choose to be married in Australia, your celebrant needs to receive a “Notice of Intended Marriage form” .When completing this form, please print neatly in black pen and ensure your details match your birth certificate and your signatures are witnessed by an approved person as described on the NOIM.
Each party requires proof of birth ie: birth certificate if born in Australia, birth certificate or passport if overseas born (an Australian Passport is not acceptable). If either party has been previously married, then evidence of how it ended must be provided (a Death Certificate or a Decree Absolute for divorce).
Please send a copy of these documents if you have them available with the NOIM and produce the originals to your celebrant prior to the ceremony. Without these documents, a celebrant cannot marry you. If you do not have these documents, contact the Births, Deaths & Marriage Registrar immediately to obtain the required documents in time for your ceremony and forward a copy when they arrive.
If you have any further please do not hesitate to contact Rose.
